GET TO KNOW WHITNEY

BAKER COUNTY COMMISSIONER POSITION #3

As a fourth-generation Baker County resident, I will honor our community’s traditions and bring a fresh perspective to our future. I am no stranger to hard work and service. I am a mom, wife, volunteer, and victim advocate. As our community looks towards generational change, I am ready to be part of it. I will step up for Baker County citizens every day. I ask for the honor of your vote to serve as your Baker County Chair.

VISION FOR COMMISSION CHAIR

Baker County has a rich history, spanning from the Oregon Trail to the mining boom, as well as agriculture, recreation, and the hospitality industry. As a candidate for Baker County Commission Chair, my vision is to honor our past but not be afraid to try something new.

The Commission Chair is a part of a team of commissioners, working together to represent and advocate for the people of Baker County. Teamwork has been a consistent part of my life, and I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the County in this role. I understand the commitment it requires, and I would approach the position with sincerity and dedication.

I will work with my fellow commissioners to ensure a sound budget and a well-managed county government. I will take time to improve and maintain relationships with our local, state, and federal partners. I will ensure that Baker County’s voice is consistently heard on the matter of rural healthcare. I remain dedicated to connecting county and non-profit programs to serve our at-risk populations.

Strengthening communication with residents, county employees, and community partners would be a big step in restoring unity. I envision accomplishing this through open office hours, better use of social media, upgrading the county website, and a possible email newsletter. I know communication will never be 100% perfect; there are too many variables to account for. However, I believe we can improve communication with a little bit of time, effort, and a boldness to try something new.

By bringing a fresh perspective and laying groundwork for future generations to learn from and build on, I believe that we can enhance the outlook for Baker County. Let’s empower the young families who want to raise their children in a rural community to feel like they have a voice. Let’s support businesses to bring better-paying jobs to families. Let’s uplift our aging population. Let’s work as a community to promote stewardship, volunteerism, and mentorship.

This is a community blessed to have people of many generations living here. Let’s honor the legacy of those before us and build on it with hard work and generosity of spirit, community, and hope.
